RESOLUTION

Good morning. My name is Karen Steele and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew.

Please close your eyes.

What is that one small change you are willing to make NOW in your thinking and in your behavior? Something that you would be willing to commit to working with for the year. It could be as simple as washing your face at night before you go to bed in order to take care of your skin, or swishing coconut oil in your mouth in the morning to strengthen your gums. Whatever it is, see if you can start to get a FELT sense of it. What would it feel like to add this HEALTHY thought process and behavior into your life?

Let that feeling expand through your entire body like a wave.

Then repeat to yourself 3 times mentally… I am committed to FILL IN YOUR RESOLVE…. And let it settle into every cell in your body.

Then one day at a time, as you put into practice your thinking and behavioral change…notice if anything other shifts start to happen. For example, does something that you have tried to stop doing start to naturally fall away? Do notice that you are including more small changes into your daily life that improve your sense of well-being, and your relationships. Just notice and observe over the year what starts to happen as a result of committing to this one small change.

WHAT IS SELF-CARE?

Good Morning, my name is Karen Steele, Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Yoga Therapist
Helping people to relax, rebuild and renew

Today I would like to talk about SELF-CARE.
This word gets thrown around lot and what does it really mean…

“Self-care is the act of refueling ourselves and attending to our needs.”

This can be a challenging thing to do in a society that values self-reliance and putting others first. In fact the opposite is true, by taking the time to develop nurturing and nourishing self-care practices, then you will have more energy and resources available to care for and support your loved ones, friends and colleagues. Once you get into a regular routine of self-care, your body and mind will start to relax and trust that its needs will be taken care of by you and so the results will be things like increased well-being, and improved mood, quality of life and relationship skills…

Do any of those benefits sound like a reason to develop a daily self-care routine?

Who would like to feel empowered through their healthcare practices?

Good Morning. My name is Karen Steele and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew.

Who would like to feel empowered through their healthcare practices? Who is willing to create a pocket of time daily to invest in relaxing, balancing and strengthening their body, mind and spirit?

Yoga therapy is a self-empowerment tool that affects all 5 layers of our being, physical, physiological, psychological including the intellectual and wisdom mind, and our common Essence.

The practice is tailored to the individual and includes 1-4 techniques each with 3-5 functions in order to maximize efficiency and efficacy.

Time and space to practice and other lifestyle issues are taken into consideration when designing a practice for a client.

In addition, yoga therapy tools such as diaphragmatic breathing, breath counting, sound and visualization are added into massage therapy treatments in order to enhance the effect of the soft tissue work.

Massage therapy and yoga therapy

Good morning. My name is Karen Steele and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew.

Massage therapy and yoga therapy share their scope of practice in that they both affect the soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments which in turn affect the joints, movement and posture. Both techniques affect all the physiological systems like hormones, digestion, circulation and immune function. Both techniques also affect clarity of mind and mood.

The difference between them is that massage therapy involves the manipulation of the soft tissues by the RMT and yoga therapy is a self-empowerment tool that requires you to do a daily practice.

As an RMT and a Yoga Therapist, I help to bridge the gap between their differences, providing the opportunity for clients to be able to just be on the table and offering tidbits of what they can do to enhance the effects of massage through breath work and gentle movement.

The benefits of Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

Good morning. My name is Karen Steele and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a deep tissue massage technique where the registered massage therapist uses her feet to knead the soft tissues of the body.   The therapist’s weight is transferred over the client by holding onto parallel bars secured in the ceiling.  This enables modifications in pressure.  The effects are lengthening of chronically shortened muscles, increased circulation to nourish tissues and joints, and the release of stored toxins.  The benefits for the client are total body and mind rejuvenation that impacts work and athletic performance and mental attitude.

The value of massage therapy and yoga therapy when you are getting back into activity and sport for the summer

Good morning. My name is Karen Steele and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew.

Today I want to mention the value of massage therapy and yoga therapy when you are getting back into activity and sport for the summer.

If you have not been very active this winter and spring, then massage therapy can help to loosen up those muscles and joints to help to present any injury from doing too much too soon. Massage therapy can also help the active people all season to recalibrate muscles and joints.

Yoga therapy can help the spine moving in all directions adding in conscious breathing to help to expand breath capacity and to improve recovery time.

My work with Lily

Hi my name is Karen Steele. I am a Registered Massage Therapist and I help people to relax, rebuild and renew. I offer both Swedish and Deep Feet massage therapies, plus Yoga Therapy for holistic well-being.

Two years ago a woman I will call Lily came to see me. She was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks.
My task was to bring Lily into a more peaceful relationship with her body.

I did 3 things:
First, I discussed with her how to maximize the use of her health benefit plan in order to receive the most from massage therapy.
Second, I took extra time at the beginning of each session to remind her that she was in charge of what happened. I asked how she was feeling both physically and emotionally since the last massage.
Third, I checked in with her at the end of each session to make sure she left the office feeling at peace in her body.

The result was that in 3 months, her anxiety symptoms had left her. She was working full-time again. She said, “Karen, you are so gifted and I am so thankful.”

Who do you know who wants to feel better in their body? Who wants the ability to focus and make better decisions?
