Niya Bajaj

Niya (N-eye-ahh) is a brown, able bodied, female presenting, heterosexual, woman of East Indian ancestry currently living as a settler on the treaty lands of the Haudenosaunee, Anishnaabek, Wendat and Mississaugas. As a yoga therapist she is committed to bringing her whole self in relationship with individuals and community so that we relieve suffering and address imbalance caused by injustice and return to our understanding that we are all the same universal energy.

While she doesn’t specialize in working with specific conditions, she has experience in developing safe, accessible personalized yoga therapy practices for people living with and recovering from discomfort due to joint injuries, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, PCOS and (in)fertility concerns, eating disorders, trauma, stress and post traumatic stress. In her practice she has seen, and continues to see proof of the effectiveness of yoga therapy as an adjuvant to allopathic and other healing traditions, especially if you are living with a complex condition.

She approaches working with her students as a learning journey, where you are the expert in your experience, and she brings a kit of evidence based time tested tools, practices and approaches to collaboratively design a practice that meets you where and when you are, to address your needs and support you in meeting your goals. She understands how allopathic and naturopathic doctors work, and collaborate with them, alongside dentists, massage therapists, psychotherapists, osteopaths, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and chiropractors to design complementary care plans.

In your work together she intends for you to find a safe, accessible, supportive space where you can access your inner knowledge to heal and transform yourself with purpose. In the long term this will sustain a deep sense of comfort, connection and ease in your body, breath and mind, along with a deeper connection to your community and environment.
