Iyengar yoga is a form of hatha yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of asana (posture) and breath awareness (pranayama).
This Level 1 class consists of basic asanas to build a strong foundation. Standing and seated asanas, forward extensions, and inversions are taught in a safe, systematic way according to your needs and abilities.
Tuesdays 9:30 am to 11:00 am
Saturdays 9:00 am to 10:30 am
POWER YOGA FLOW WITH MIRANDA
Power Flow is a dynamic style of yoga that links both standing and seated postures with the breathe. This is great for those that want to strengthen, stretch and move the body. We will explore challenging asanas, inversions and arm balances. Suited for experienced practitioners and the athletically inclined.
Mondays 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm
PAUSE, BREATHE, RELAX WITH KAREN
This class will start with easing into the mat with some slow, supine movements, followed by breath awareness through gentle yin and restorative poses. Finally, enter a state of deep rest and relaxation through yoga nidra, an immensely powerful meditation technique.
Tuesdays 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm
BREATH-FUL MOVEMENT WITH JESSICA
This breath-centred class is ideal for people experiencing persistent physical and/or mental health conditions. The instructor-therapist will adapt each class in order to address your specific and changing needs. While the linking of the breath and movement will form the core of this practice, we will draw upon myriad techniques – such as conscious breath regulation, meditative practices, and the use of sound – to improve health and well being and increase quality of life. Most importantly, you will be empowered and supported to be an active participant in your healing journey. Please note: this instructor-therapist has been trained in trauma-sensitive yoga.
